Strategically located in the metropolis of Shanghai, Kaiyingda Chemical Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. (KYD) was derived from the Design Institute of Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry (SRICI) of the Ministry of Chemical Industry, a Chinese top-notch state research institute, and currently is jointly owned by Zhengrong Energy Investment Co., Ltd. (ZEIC) and SRICI. Over the years, KYD has evolved into an integrated engineering and consulting firm with a full spectrum of services, mainly focusing on fine chemical and petro-chemical sectors. It offers engineering consulting, design, project management and general EPC contracting in the chemical, pharmaceutical and petro-chemical industries.

KYD has a Class A certificate for specialty engineering design for chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical facilities (chemical engineering), a Class B certificate for general engineering design for chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries, and a pressure pipe design certificate. In 2018, it passed the quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental management certification.

Since its establishment, KYD has completed nearly 400 engineering consulting, engineering design and general EPC contracting projects. The hallmark projects include but are not limited to: stable N-15 isotope plant, polyethylene oxide (PEO) plant, vinyl pyrrolidone plant, 10,000-ton polyphenylene ether (PPE) plant, and a variety of compound fertilizer plants ranging from 30,000 to 200,000 tons/year involving various process technologies. Fully utilizing technological resources of SRICI and geological advantages of Shanghai, KYD also fulfilled a number of chemical projects in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
